General
Information
The Montessori Classroom offers your child
the joy and excitement of learning in a safe, happy, relaxed
atmosphere. Children explore and discover at their own pace in an
un-graded, mixed-age class. “Hands-On” learning materials foster
self-esteem, independence, and respect for self and others. When your
child is ready, there are concrete introductions to numbers, letters,
phonetic reading and writing skills, as well as science and geography
activities. “Fun with a purpose” is how one parent described our busy
classroom!
We believe, as did Dr. Maria Montessori,
that the goal of early childhood education should be to cultivate the
child’s own natural desire to learn.
We are state licensed and certified to
serve children age 3 through age 12. We are a member of the American
Montessori Society. Our school year begins in September and ends in
June with holiday vacations.

ENROLLMENT: Children from
ages 3 to 6 attend the primary program. Children must be toilet
trained before they start school. The 5 Half Day Sessions (choice of
morning or afternoon) are offered to 3 and 4 year olds. Children
attend 5 days per week because routine provides security for the
child, and continuity is essential for development and retention.
Parents are expected to enroll their child for the 3 year cycle so
that the child may reap the full benefits of the Montessori Method.
The third year is crucial and considered to be the year of fruition in
the Montessori classroom.
Full Day Sessions are offered for 5 year
olds (kindergarten) and the Elementary Program only. The Elementary
Program provides the same mixed age group environment through Grade 6.
PROGRAM HIGHLIGHTS :
French, Music, Art, Gardening, “Trip Around the World”, Field
Trips, Walks to Playground, Parent Education, and Parent
Conferences.
